I took these pictures after it rained a little, so the wet rocks looked shinier and more detailed than when they were dry. At first I was thinking of taking a picture of them with water running over them like a stream. However, when I tried to pour it over them, it just sank into the ground below them. It made sense in my mind, but then I remembered that they act as a drainage system for the gutters, and I realized it wouldn't have worked anyway. I ended up taking close-ups of them instead of a bigger photo, and I think they turned out better than a larger one would have.
My house is surrounded by a lot of woods, so there are lots of big trees all around my yard. There are clumps of huge evergreens in the front, which I'm pretty sure have been there before our house was built in the 60's. In the first picture, I actually took inspiration from an elementary school project. We used lines to make it look like we were under a tree, then used wet colored paper around it for leaf colors. When I took the second one it had started to snow, and the clouds made it hard to get good lighting, especially since it was starting to get towards evening.
